We are excited to share the great news that Alyssa Satin Capucilli, author of the Biscuit series, visited New York School for the Deaf this week!
NYSD students in kindergarten and first grade classes have participated in monthly author studies this year and this month’s author is Alyssa Satin Capucilli. Teachers, Cori Wagner, Amy Kushner, and Maddy Kosson, reached out to the author, and she happily agreed to present to the students about her writing process.
Alyssa Satin Capucilli also offered to make a donation in Fanwood’s name to a conservation organization. New York School for the Deaf will be her “Authors for Earth Day” school and students voted on which organization she will send the contribution. Before her visit, students researched and learned about the different organizations that the contribution should be awarded to. During Alyssa’s visit, the class voted and chose Koko.org. They were thrilled to learn about Koko, a gorilla who uses sign language!
This was not only a fun event for the students, but also a rich learning experience. Thank you to Alyssa Satin Capucilli, for your time and generosity! For more great pictures, click HERE.
